What Is Arizona SSBCI?

The State Small Business Credit Initiative is a U.S. Treasury program that supports state programs designed to expand access to private financing. In Arizona, the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA) coordinates SSBCI programs. SSBCI is not a general business grant program. Businesses must meet the requirements of the applicable lender, investor and program.

Who May Benefit from Small Business Financing?

Arizona owners planning an eligible startup, equipment purchase, inventory investment, working-capital need or business expansion may benefit from understanding their options. A readiness review helps identify missing records and realistic repayment needs before an application. Business type, location, size, ownership, use of funds and lender requirements all matter.

Types of Financing Through Arizona's SSBCI Programs

Arizona Loan Guarantee Program

The program provides guarantees to participating lenders for eligible loans. It may help businesses facing gaps in cash flow, credit or collateral. The lender makes the loan and decides whether to approve it; ACA does not lend directly to the business. A guarantee supports the lender and does not remove the borrower's repayment obligation.

Arizona Venture Co-Invest Program — AVC Ignite

This equity pathway supports innovative seed- and early-stage businesses in targeted sectors alongside eligible investors. Equity financing can involve giving investors an ownership interest. It is different from a small-business loan.

Arizona Multi-Fund Venture Capital Program — AVC Limited Partner

This program invests in venture capital funds that support innovative Arizona businesses. It is not a direct general-purpose loan application. Arizona's venture programs are administered through AZ Venture Capital Inc.

How Urban AZ Financial Helps Businesses Prepare

We organize your business records, identify financial-document gaps and help prepare clearly explained lender-facing materials. Our work complements your existing advisors and the lender's process. We provide preparation and documentation services; we do not promise access to capital or make credit decisions.

Business Funding Readiness Assessment

We review business structure, records, financing goals, existing debts, cash-flow information and intended use of funds. You receive a written list of missing items and practical next steps. This is an internal preparation review, not underwriting, a credit approval or a prediction of financing.

Financial Documents and Business Plans

Depending on your needs and agreed scope, we can help organize business records and prepare management-use profit-and-loss statements, balance sheets, debt schedules, business plans, cash-flow forecasts and use-of-funds budgets. Projections identify assumptions and are not promises of future results. Audit, review, assurance and legal services are outside this preparation service.

Document requirements vary. Your lender may request business and owner tax returns, bank statements, ownership records and supporting quotes. Sensitive documents are collected through an agreed secure client system, never this public form.

Starting, Relaunching or Expanding a Business?

A new entity alone does not establish financing eligibility. A startup or relaunch needs a clear operating plan, realistic startup costs, evidence supporting revenue assumptions and an explanation of how debt would be repaid. An established business may need updated books, expansion costs and a forecast showing how additional capacity supports cash flow.

Previously Declined for Business Financing?

Start with the lender's stated reasons, when available. We can help organize the facts and address documentation gaps. Some issues require time, stronger operations or another financing approach. Preparation cannot override underwriting or guarantee a different decision.

Free Arizona SSBCI Technical Assistance

ACA offers qualifying socially and economically disadvantaged businesses and very small businesses no-cost legal, accounting and financial advisory assistance connected to eligible capital programs. Program eligibility and service availability are determined through ACA's process. This assistance can include business plans and financial records.

Explore this no-cost option before paying for similar private services. Urban AZ Financial's private services are optional and are not required to access official SSBCI programs.

Our Process — Four Steps

  1. Discuss your goal. Clarify your business stage, funding range and intended use. Identify official no-cost assistance when appropriate.
  2. Assess readiness. Review available records and agree on a written scope before paid work begins.
  3. Prepare the materials. Collect sensitive records securely, organize financial information and document forecast assumptions.
  4. Choose your next step. Review the packet together. You select and contact lenders or investors; their eligibility, underwriting and approval requirements apply.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is SSBCI a grant I do not have to repay?

No. Arizona's SSBCI financing programs support loans and investments. No-cost technical assistance is separate from financing.

Do I apply to Urban AZ Financial for an SSBCI loan?

No. We provide optional preparation services. Loans are made through participating lenders; venture investment follows its own investor process.

Can a startup or a business with imperfect credit qualify?

Possibly, depending on program rules and the lender's review. A startup, relaunch or credit challenge does not establish automatic eligibility.

What can financing be used for?

ACA lists eligible uses such as startup costs, working capital, equipment and inventory, subject to program restrictions and lender approval. Passive real estate investment is excluded from the Arizona Loan Guarantee Program's eligible business purposes.

Does a readiness assessment guarantee approval?

No. We do not guarantee a financing amount, interest rate, approval or timeline.

Must I buy consulting services to access SSBCI?

No. You may contact official programs and participating lenders directly. Qualifying businesses may also receive no-cost technical assistance through ACA.

How does this relate to Angular Financial?

Angular Financial remains our existing business-funding resource. This page explains a separate public-program pathway and our documentation support; it does not claim Angular Financial is an SSBCI participating lender.

Should I upload my tax returns here?

No. Do not enter Social Security numbers, account numbers or confidential financial details. We will arrange a secure document-collection method after the initial discussion.
