Revenue alone does not tell you whether a business is financially healthy. Owners need a practical view of cash flow, margins, obligations and the money actually available to operate and grow.

1. Monthly Revenue

Track how much the business brings in and whether revenue is stable, seasonal, growing or declining.

2. Gross Profit

Understand what remains after the direct costs associated with delivering products or services.

3. Operating Expenses

Know the recurring costs required to keep the business running, including payroll, rent, software, insurance and professional services.

4. Net Profit

Net profit helps show what remains after applicable business expenses, but it should be reviewed alongside cash flow because accounting profit and available cash are not identical.

5. Cash on Hand

Owners should know how much accessible operating cash exists and approximately how long it could support normal obligations.

6. Debt Payments

Existing loans, cards and other financing commitments affect monthly cash flow and future borrowing capacity.

7. Tax Obligations

Income, payroll and other tax obligations should be planned for rather than treated as surprises.
